Mr. Linghua SUN

Mr. Sun graduated from the University of Petroleum in December of 1981 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He went to the Training College of previous Ministry of Foreign Economic Relation and Trade (the predecessor of University of International Business and Economics), and completed college education of English in July 1985. Then he studied in the law school of Osaka University from April 1992 to March 1994, and obtained a Master’s degree in law. From April 1994 to March 1997, Mr. Sun continued his study of international public policy in Osaka University and received PhD.

Mr. Sun’s practice covers chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering and related technical fields, and he has long-term extensive experience in IP protection consulting and prosecution. Mr. Sun, with rich experience in application drafting, substantive examination, reexamination, invalidation, appeal and infringement, has handled a large quantity of patent applications on behalf of Chinese and foreign applicants, including hundreds of cases entrusted by Chinese and world’s top companies. After Mr. Sun moved to Japan, he focused more on the IP services for Japanese clients. 

Mr. Sun worked in the legal department of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) from January 1982 to December 1984, continued working in the CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office from January 1985 to December 1990, received training from January to October 1991, worked as a researcher in Japan Society of Comparative Law from November 1991 to March 1992, then he worked in the Legal IP Home Office of Ricoh Company Ltd. from April 1997 to August 2008, as vice general manager in a Chinese top IP law firm from September 2008 to September 2010, and headed Sunlinghua Chinese IP Service Firm from October 2010 to April 2018, while holding a concurrent post as counsel to Japan Institute for Promoting Invention and Innovation. Mr. Sun joined Panawell in May 2018.

Mr. Sun is a member of the All-China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA).

Mr. Sun’s working languages include Chinese, Japanese and English.
